Snippet from back cover:
In God of My Father, Dr. Larry Crabb shares with us his personal spiritual mentor, a man strong in faith and steady in his walk. That man is his eighty-year-old father, Lawrence Crabb, Sr.
This book is about mentoring: how an older person can influence a younger person for good. This is an intensely personal story of a godly father, and of God's abiding faithfulness to generation after generation of his children.
"I am in the dwindling minority of folks who have been drawn to love God by their fathers," writes Larry Crabb. "For many people, father is a bad word, meaning one who abandons, abuses demeans, and demands perfection. I hope this book will increase the number of children in the next generation whose fathers reveal God to them, rather that distort or obscure him."
God of My Father is an intensely personal book, a moving tribute to the influence of a godly mentor and faithful father.
Dr. Larry Crabb, Jr., is the founder and director of the Institute of Biblical Counseling. In addition to conducting IBC seminars across the country, Crabb is professor of biblical counseling at Colorado Christian University of Morrison, Colorado. Crabb's other books include Finding God, Men & Women, and Inside Out.
Lawrence Crabb, Sr., is retired and living in Conway, South Carolina, with his wife, Isabel. Self-employed for many years as owner of a tool supply company, Crabb devoted his after-work energy to ministry in the local church, youth work, Bible study, and personal hobbies. With Larry, Jr., he published a children's novel, The Adventures of Captain Al Scabbard.
"No person has influenced my life and thought more than Larry Crabb. He has exposed my heart and drawn me to God. Nothing he has written has provoked me, tantalized me, and drawn me to the mystery and goodness of God like God of My Father. Both men invite us through simple and profound stories to glimpse the wonder of how God tells his story through our lives. I believe you will read with awe, at times envy, and undoubtedly with a passion to know God."
